Kristen Wiig plays an eccentric, if not villainous cat lady in the trailer for Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie from DreamWorks Animation, which dropped an official trailer on Thursday ahead of a Sept. 26, 2025 theatrical release.
The Ryan Crego-directed hybrid live-action and animated film has Laila Lockhart Kraner reprising her titular role from the Gabby’s Dollhouse TV series, and on a road trip with her Grandma Gigi, played by Gloria Estefan, to the urban wonderland of Cat Francisco.
But when Gabby’s dollhouse ends up in the hands of oddball cat lady Vera (Wiig), Gabby, now wearing her magical cat ears, and Grandma Gigi on board as back-up set off to save the dollhouse before it’s too late.

“This dollhouse will complete my cat collections,” a sinister Vera says at one point in the trailer before driving off with Gabby’s prized possession. The film was penned by Crego with Melanie Wilson LaBracio and Adam Wilson, and features animated characters to represent the major live action roles and the fantastical animated world of cat characters that fills Gabby’s dollhouse.
Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie is produced by Steven Schweickart (How to Train Your Dragon, The Croods, Kung Fu Panda 4), and is executive produced by Jennifer Twomey and Traci Paige Johnson, who created the popular TV series that streams on Netflix.
The series follows a tween who, after unboxing items, uses her magical powers to shrink down into an animated version of herself to go on miniature adventures with her kitty pals, called the Gabby Cats.
